BERT Frequently Asked Questions
BERT members are required to take the following training:
- First Aid/CPR/AED Training (all day class, take every 2 years)
- Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Training (2 hours, take every 2 years)
- Fire Extinguisher Training (1½ hours, take annually)
Contact your local facility management office for BERT training classes and dates.
Two weeks prior to each training, an email will be sent to BERT members. There will be a link to KPLearn to register for the training.
View the BERT roster for your building. The date listed below each training class is the date your training expires. Please do not register for a class if the date listed has not expired. Keep in mind that there are new BERT members who need to take the training. Remember to cancel your registration if you know you will be unable to attend the training.
Each floor should have at least 9 primary BERT members: Floor Warden, Deputy Floor Warden, (2) Elevator Monitors, (2) Stairwell Monitors, (2) Searchers, (1) Mobility Aide. Alternates or backups for each position are recommended. Descriptions of each position can be found on the BERT website.
Contact your Floor Warden so that he/she can let you know what position is needed on your floor. The Floor Warden will have you complete a BERT Volunteer Agreement form and will email it to the BERT Coordinator, Florence.Tsang@kp.org.
Go to the BERT website and access the BERT roster for your building. The roster lists the floor number, each BERT member, the positions they hold and training expiration dates.
The BERT volunteer agreement form can be found on the BERT website.
